Pickup & Return Process
Pick up and return gear at our Thomson Bay hub in the main settlement, inside the Salt Store building at Island Gypsy, just a 2-minute walk from the main Rottnest Island jetty.
Book your beach gear online, then collect it when you arrive at Rottnest. Walk-ins are welcome, but online bookings ensure availability during peak times, especially for popular Rottnest beach hire items like CoolCabanas and wagons.
Our opening hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm daily.
Unless on a multi-day hire, all gear must be returned before 4:00pm on the day of hire.
Pack items into the bag provided, ensure all pieces are included and clean, and return them to the Salt Store building at Island Gypsy before 4pm.
All beach equipment must be returned to the Salt Store by no later than 4pm.
No, returns must be completed during opening hours so equipment can be cleaned, sanitised and prepared for the next rental.
No. All beach gear hire is collected and returned at the Salt Store hub in Thomson Bay.
Minor wear is fine. Replacement fees apply for missing or damaged items, and these are listed in our hire Terms & Conditions.
Yes. We’re only a short walk from the main Rottnest ferry jetty, making pickup fast and convenient.
Yes. With prior arrangement, your gear can be delivered and picked from your Rottnest Accommodation.
Booking Requirements
We recommend booking in advance to guarantee availability especially for high-demand items like CoolCabanas, Burleigh Wagons and snorkel sets. Walk-ins are welcome but you may miss out on your first choice.
Book online at any time. Payment and the security bond are processed through our secure checkout. Walk-ins are welcome for last-minute beach hire on Rottnest.
We don’t take cash deposits. Instead, a credit card pre-authorisation ($50–$200 depending on items) is held and released within 48 hours when gear is returned clean and undamaged.

Yes. We offer child sizes (ages 6+) with safety valves, easy-release straps, and full-face visibility. All snorkel masks are sanitised with a marine-safe disinfectant.

Cleaning & Sanitisation
Yes. All equipment is cleaned, checked and maintained after every hire to ensure safety and comfort.
Snorkel masks are cleaned using a marine-safe sanitiser, suitable for both adults and kids.
Items should be free of excess sand and placed back into the bags provided. A quick wipe-down is appreciated so we can maintain a fast turnaround for the next hire.

Yes. You can use your hired beach gear at any of Rottnest’s 63 beaches and bays, including favourites like The Basin, Pinky Beach, Longreach Bay and Geordie Bay.
For more space and privacy, popular spots include Longreach Bay, Salmon Bay, Parakeet Bay and Fay’s Bay. Our staff can recommend beaches based on wind and conditions on the day.
